The Archer Foundation Story

Our History

Despite growing up in very humble hard-working, blue-collar families, James and Lois’s entrepreneurial journey began with a vision to create a business that would not only thrive in a competitive industry but also become a significant force in the global market. Through the Archers’ leadership and dedication, they built Multi-Chem into one of the largest and most successful oil and gas service companies in the world. Under their guidance, Multi-Chem grew to become a leader in its field, offering innovative solutions and services to the oil and gas industry. This success culminated in the sale of Multi-Chem to Halliburton in 2011, a milestone that marked the achievement of the Archers’ business ambitions and set the stage for the next chapter in their lives.

James and Lois have always believed that their own lives had been deeply enriched through acts of generosity and giving.  Lois recounts, “God would not give you more than you needed unless He wanted you to share it.”  This belief in the transformative power of giving led the Archers to commit themselves to supporting charitable causes, focusing on improving the lives of those in need, and they have witnessed firsthand how philanthropy could make a profound impact, not just on the lives of those receiving aid, but also on their own personal sense of fulfillment. Their personal experiences inspired them to use the wealth they have built to make a meaningful difference in the world.

Our Purpose

Motivated by this sense of purpose, the Archers made the decision to establish the James B. and Lois R. Archer Charitable Foundation. Their primary goal was to ensure that their philanthropic work would continue long after their time, leaving a lasting legacy of support and compassion. They envisioned a Foundation that would not only reflect their values and commitment to giving but also be guided and managed by their family members and trusted advisors. By doing so, they sought to preserve and expand the impact of their charitable efforts for generations to come, ensuring that their contributions would continue to create positive change in the lives of others.
